There are not enough words in the world to explain how torturing it is to work with a company logo that is dull, boring and cluttered. It is a Graphic Designer's worst nightmare! And then you must try and impress the client, but they never seem happy...maybe it is time to REVAMP your logo and change your look and feel.

I have dotted together a few tips for you to consider when thinking of revamping your logo.

1. WILL YOUR LOGO WORK AS A BLACK AND WHITE IMAGE?

The first thing you should always have in mind when creating a logo is to imagine what the logo would look like in Black and White. Why? Simple, it is to avoid clutter and an overwhelming of colours. Think about it...in the middle of the month your colour cartridge runs out on your printer (always the first to go) and now you need to print your invoices with your black cartridge. Now that there is only two colours presenting your logo; the result can be a disaster. Shift your mind to things where the logo could be presented on e.g. t-shirt printing, laser cutting and promotional items. Remember that it is sometimes cheaper to print your logo as B&W than colour, so a B&W logo is a great money saver and safer way to fall back on when the budget gets tight.

2. SIMPLISITY IS KEY

Want to be professional? Try being more minimalistic. People don't want to be bombarded with information and low resolution images. You are confusing your client and scaring them away. Be short and sweet. Say what you need to say and make it brief. Having a simplistic logo helps with the rest of your companies look and feel. For me there is nothing more hassle free than to see a logo, know what the company specialize in, stepping into the office and the whole look and feel of the place is neat, in an orderly manner and clear.

3. ACRONYMS AS YOUR LOGO

Do you have a logo that is an acronym? Do you perhaps somewhere on your billboard say what that acronym stands for? If not, maybe you should try and consider placing what the logo stands for. The reason why is that the clients who never heard of you before might not understand the first time what your company specialize in. Especially when you just started your business. Imagine your business' name is B.O.B Company - my first thought would be that the owner of the company's name is BOB, meanwhile the BOB stands for Big On Brands. Say what you do - that is important.

4. COLOUR

Ah yes. Colour choice. The colour of your logo or business is quite crucial. Its biggest role is to create a certain feeling. Like blue creates the feeling of trust. Black and gold portrays the feeling of being rich, sophisticated and professional. Having the wrong colours for the type of service can be misleading and unsuccessful. Do a bit of research on the impact of colours it has on a client. Here is a bit more about the meaning of colour

So... does your logo fall into this criteria? Maybe it is time to revamp your logo. Send me an email and I will help you create a stronger and even better logo.
